Elected in 2020 and re-elected in 2024 with 67% of the vote, Shannon has built a record the old-fashioned way: by listening to Residents and delivering results.
Community matters to Shannon. Preserving, protecting, and defending Pinecrest matters. Her record is clear. On Council, Shannon fought to protect the four-story height limit on U.S.-1. She consistently championed a well-paid, professional police force. She voted against the 2025 tax increase. She voted against the 2025 True North traffic expansion because it increased congestion by introducing more outside traffic into Pinecrest; and because it creates additional safety concerns in an already crowded area during school hours, especially.
Shannon launched flashing speed-warning signs and advanced data-driven safety measures to slow traffic. She launched the Pinecrest Composting Program—diverting 200,000+ pounds of food waste from the landfill. She launched the Pinecrest Canal Clean-Up Program, where an FIU team is actively using innovative, science-based techniques to mitigate weed blooms. She launched the humane Peacock Mitigation Program to address invasive-bird overpopulation and its negative impacts. After years of long-overdue infrastructure work, she helped solve the potable water and safety issue for 700+ Residents—and potable water and fire hydrants are now accessible across Pinecrest. Shannon also worked to acquire two new parks. Throughout it all, she has safeguarded Pinecrest’s environment and our quality of life.
Accessible and engaged, Shannon meets Residents regularly at her Pinecrest Farmers Markettable. Residents are Shannon’s North Star.
Shannon’s peers recognize her leadership skills. In 2016, she was elected President of the Miami-Dade Trial Lawyers Association. Her colleagues and neighbors have consistently trusted her with fiscal management, including serving as Treasurer for tour local PTA as well as the trial lawyers association. At the PTA, she was elected Vice President following her tenure as Treasurer. Shannon is also a longtime advocate for local schools, with years of hands-on leadership supporting teachers and students.

She pioneered the Science Task Force at Pinecrest Elementary—helping establish hands-on science learning that continues today—because strong schools are essential to a strong community.
Shannon’s professional and public service includes work with the U.S. Department of Justice supporting community-based police force professionalization. It just so happens that this is the model that the Pinecrest Police follow. Prior to running for Council, Shannon was appointed to and served on Pinecrest’s Zoning Board.
Shannon and her husband, Skip Pita, have been married for 30 years and raised their three children in Pinecrest. As a lawyer and founding partner of Pita Weber Del Prado, Shannon brings a practical, problem-solving mindset to local government—focused on what works, what lasts, and what delivers real value for Residents.
Now, she’s ready to lead Pinecrest’s next chapter as Mayor.
