SHANNON'S VISION

VIEW DETAILS

A Government Focused on Serving You.

Shannon believes leadership starts with listening. Her priorities reflect the needs of Residents and a commitment to thoughtful, effective solutions that improve everyday life. Pinecrest works best when Government is disciplined, transparent, and responsive—focused on solving real problems and delivering results for Residents. As Mayor, Shannon will protect what makes Pinecrest special, invest in the fundamentals, and make decisions based on facts—not politics.

Community Safety

Shannon believes public safety works best when our Police are part of our Community —not apart from it. Pinecrest’s Community-Based policing model is built on trust, visibility, and relationships with Residents. Early in Shannon’s professional career, she worked with the U.S. Department of Justice supporting community-based policing and police force professionalization—experience that reinforces what works here in Pinecrest.

As Mayor, she will continue to support a well-paid, professionally trained police force with competitive compensation that strengthens recruitment and retention. Just as importantly, she will protect and expand the programs that keep our officers connected to Residents —from neighborhood engagement and youth outreach to community events that build familiarity, confidence, and respect.

Financial Responsibility

Shannon believes Residents deserve a Village Government that treats tax dollars with the same care families use in their own household budgets. She knows Pinecrest’s budget inside and out, asks the tough questions, and focuses spending on core services and real needs—not wish lists. Shannon has never voted for a tax increase, and she voted no on the recent tax increase because fiscal discipline matters, especially when Residents are already feeling rising costs.

Shannon’s approach is practical: prioritize the fundamentals, measure results, and pace major projects responsibly so Pinecrest stays strong today and well-positioned for the future. Her colleagues and neighbors have long trusted her with financial stewardship—including serving as Treasurer for our local PTA and the Miami Dade Trial Lawyers Assoc.—because she brings transparency, accountability, and common sense to every dollar. As Mayor, Shannon will keep Government focused on serving you by protecting Pinecrest’s financial stability and our AAA bond rating, resisting wasteful spending, and delivering real value for Residents.

Community Building & Quality of Life

Shannon believes community is built face-to-face – through listening, relationships, and practical follow-through. She knocked on more than 10,000 doors across two campaigns, and she continues that same approach in office. Shannon sets up a table at the Pinecrest Farmers Market at least twice a month (usually three times) so Residents can speak with her directly, share concerns, and help shape priorities in real time.

Just as importantly, Residents know Shannon is responsive. She answers emails, returns calls, and connects Residents with the right people in Village government to get issues addressed—because constituent service isn’t an afterthought, it’s part of the job.

Shannon also believes the best local government starts with well-informed Residents. Clear, timely communication helps Residents understand what’s happening, what decisions are coming, and how to participate. As Mayor, Shannon will prioritize strong Village communications, so Residents have real visibility into projects, meetings, and outcomes that shape Pinecrest’s future—because trust is built through transparency.

Keeping Development True to Pinecrest

Shannon believes growth must respect Pinecrest’s character and quality of life. On Council, she fought to protect Pinecrest’s four-story height limit along U.S.-1 because Residents deserve development that fits the scale of our community—not projects that overwhelm it. That work was also about protecting local control: ensuring Pinecrest—not outside interests—sets the standards that shape our future.

As Mayor, Shannon will continue to defend Pinecrest’s zoning integrity and insist on smart, disciplined planning. She will push for transparency, meaningful public input, and decisions grounded in data and real neighborhood impacts—especially when it comes to traffic, safety, and infrastructure capacity. Shannon’s goal is simple: keep development true to Pinecrest, so the Community we love remains the Community we pass on to the next generation.

Safeguarding Pinecrest's Environment

Shannon believes environmental stewardship should be practical, measurable, and focused on improving everyday life for Residents. On Council, she launched the Pinecrest Composting Program—diverting 200,000+ pounds of food waste from the landfill—with support from Miami-Dade County and Commissioner Raquel Regalado, who recognized the landfill impact on a macro level.

Shannon has also been a strong advocate for recycling correctly. She has visited the recycling facility twice so she can help Residents understand what can be recycled, what cannot, and how to do it properly. As new recycling upgrades come online in 2026, Shannon will keep Residents informed about improvements and any expanded capabilities—especially updates on the types of plastics that can be recycled. As Mayor, she will ensure the Village communications team provides clear, timely guidance on proper recycling, because well-informed Residents are essential to good government and a cleaner community.

Shannon launched the Pinecrest Canal Clean-Up Program with FIU, using innovative, science-based techniques to reduce weed blooms and improve the canals’ health and beauty. This is long-term work, and Shannon’s approach is step by step—testing what works, measuring results, and expanding responsibly, including coordination with the County and neighboring communities where our waterways connect.

Shannon initiated the Peacock Mitigation Program to address the harmful impacts of invasive-bird overpopulation. Peacocks were introduced from India and have few natural predators here, which is why overpopulation has become such a serious issue. Miami-Dade County approved Pinecrest’s program, and Commissioner Regalado supported it – recognizing the need for a humane approach that can expand regionally. Shannon supports partnering with the County and adjacent municipalities—Palmetto Bay, South Miami, and Coral Gables –because lasting solutions work best when communities work together.

Together, these initiatives won Pinecrest the 2025 Florida Municipal Achievement Award for Environmental Stewardship. As Mayor, Shannon will keep Pinecrest clean, resilient, and well cared for –  continuing to invest in common-sense solutions that deliver real results for Residents.

Turn Shannon’s vision into reality.
