Celebrating Father's Day!

Dear Aaron,

Happy Father’s Day!  Today, we reflect on our Dads.

My Dad came to the U.S. in 1965.  He labored as a welder.  He worked hard and ended up at Harvard.  He became a Senior U.S. Foreign Service Officer. By the time he retired, my Father was one of the most decorated foreign service officers in U.S. history.  After retiring, he and my Mom built a health care clinic in Peru and dedicate their retirement to helping the underserved.  They continue to do this today as volunteers.

Each of us inherited values from our parents.  My parents instilled in me the values of service and commitment.

With my Dad, a lifelong public servant

Growing up in the Foreign Service, I lived in multiple countries.  That was a driving reason, 20 years ago, for my husband Skip and I to make our home in Pinecrest – a beautiful, tranquil community that was perfect to raise our family.  Pinecrest has given us so much.

Today, I stand for re-election.  Pinecrest will once again choose who should hold this seat.  I seek re-election because local government must be about service to our Community. I have served as a volunteer in our Community for 20 years. And it has been an honor to serve on our Village Council for the past four.

Pinecrest is a gem, and we need to build on our progress and preserve it.  This is my ongoing commitment to you.

With my parents at the Pinecrest Farmers’ Market!

I hope to see you at the Farmers’ Market today.  If not, I hope to catch you when I knock on your door.

Best of Father’s Day Weekend to all the Dads!

Committed to Our Community,
Vice Mayor Shannon del Prado

My husband Skip and I – himself a Father to 3 Palmetto High graduates and lifelong Pinecresters!
